You can always count on a wedding for drama….
The members of the Thursday Murder Club have had a quiet year (no dead bodies) and are managing to keep themselves out of trouble.
Joyce is excited for her daughter Joanna's upcoming wedding; Elizabeth is still grieving the death of her husband Stephen; Ibrahim is continuing to provide therapy to drug kingpin Connie and Ron is sorting out some family issues.
Things take a turn when they attend Joanna's wedding, and Elizabeth is approached by the best man, who claims someone is trying to kill him.
When he is involved in a car bombing the next day, the gang is plunged into a new mystery – complete with more shenanigans, an enormous fortune and a missing code.
This is another fun and easy-to-read novel by the king of cosy reads, Richard Osman. The gang is always a delight to be around, and Osman's relatable humour had me giggling throughout (at one point, Connie laments having to upgrade to Spotify Premium so she doesn't have to listen to Burger King ads while she meditates). Having said that there are some serious moments in the book that are handled sensitively, including a storyline involving domestic violence.
This is the fifth book in The Thursday Murder Club series, and this gang of retiree sleuths show no signs of slowing down.
